Why do I love these four words so much and use them as my Instagram and Twitter handles? For me, I find This to be one of the most direct, non-conceptually loaded ways to refer to whatever is showing up experientially. Whatever is being perceived, whatever is being felt or seen, touched or tasted, and the one we imagine is doing all the feeling, seeing, tasting and touching.
As always John, with clarity and simplicity you went straight to Truth. I've not seen "This is (always) it." explicated more effectively, even considering the occasions that Alan Watts concluded with "This is It."
If you'll permit, I would add to your meaning of "it" to include destination. Similar to Jean Klein's non-dual pointer, "The seeker is the sought." "This is It." can be taken to mean that "This" is what we seek to "know." I am grateful for teachers like you who help us to realize that the It we seek is This - and it's always shining forth.
Thanks, Noel. Glad the piece struck a chord. And I LOVE your add. Yes, This is indeed what we've been searching for (It). :-)
The podcast was really terrifically clarifying, John. Thank you!
Glad you found it so, Linda :-)
